The 2010 Quality of Life Vision Sponsor, Dominion Virginia Power, shares our belief that a high quality of life is an essential element of economic vitality and actively supports the quality of life programs of the Region's Chamber.
Dominion is active in many community programs, including Project Plant It!, a community effort to educate children, plant trees and improve the environment.
Project Plant It! is a partnership among Dominion, the Arbor Day Foundation and selected local school districts in areas where Dominion does business. In 2008, nearly 20,000 elementary school students in Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Virginia--including Prince William--learned about the value of trees in our ecosystem and how to recognize and care for them.
The program included special activities at schools on Arbor Day. One of those programs, held at Belmont Elementary in Woodbridge, included having the trees planted in honor of service men and women serving overseas. Representatives from all branches of the military were on hand for the ceremony.
